A life behind the lens.

My name is Jeff Binion and I am a self taught freelance photographer. I bought my first camera, a Pentax K1000 in 1980, to photograph some friends of mine who were making a much anticipated musical comeback after a devastating plane crash that killed 3 of the original members of the band. You may have heard of them … Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Throughout my life, I initially worked in the music business in one capacity or another, based out of Nashville, Tennessee. Though in that time, photography was always a secondary interest. After retiring from the rigorous touring years, I settled in on pursuing photography. I relocated to Miami, Florida where I began honing my skills. After 15 years of chasing gigs, shooting anything that helped pay the bills, I've reached the point where I can now choose what direction I want to go.

I really enjoy working with people and shooting portraits. You can see inside a person and the lines on their face and their eyes help tell the story of their life. Past and present. I prefer shooting medium format black and white film. As time passes, my website will be progressing and updated to reflect that transition.
